– Memory & Recall –

“Memory” is a still shot capturing a single scene, yet it holds a flow within.

Whether good or bad, we store situations like photographs.

We do not know why painful memories—the ones we wish to erase and never store—are kept, regardless of our intentions.

If we were to look for a reason, perhaps it is meant to warn us never to create or encounter the same situation again.

Good memories, on the other hand, carry a desire to be kept—playing repeatedly like a cherished scene from a movie, a process we call “Recall.”

When I think deeply about it…

I wonder if a memory that consists of only one side—either just what we wish to avoid or what we wish to recall—can truly be called a memory at all.

Perhaps what allows something to be given the true meaning of “memory” is the harmony between these two cognitive mechanisms: “avoidance and recall”.
